A Guide To The Best Of San Francisco
January 07, 2019 Calling all cineastes - this month, San Francisco is proud to play host for two of the country’s most popular film festivals: Noir City at the Castro Theater on January 25 – February 3, and the 21st San Francisco Independent Film Festival, a.k.a. SF IndieFest, screened at various venues throughout the city, on January 30 - February 14. These film festivals are always a favorite event here in San Francisco, and both often feature such events as attending celebrities and audience Q & A sessions. Noir City will premiere the restored version of director Richard Fleischer’s “Trapped,” in addition to iconic mid-century noirs and two films from the 1960s that ultimately challenged the concept of previous noir films, and reshaped the genre. Noir Film Foundation president and TCM Noir Alley host Eddie Muller will be on hand for the screenings. IndieFest offers gutsy, cutting-edge cinema, and plans to screen no-niche, sui generis titles. Past participants of IndieFest have included such industry heavyweights as David Lynch, Gus Van Sant, and Penelope Spheeris.A Fabulous Film Fest Duo
