A Guide To The Best Of San Francisco
February 03, 2020 Film fanatics rejoice — the eagerly anticipated return of the San Francisco Indie Fest has arrived, and it will be ongoing through February 13. This best of the indie fests event will include nearly 80 original works, all screened at one of three locations: the Brava Theater, the Roxie Theater, and Alamo Drafthouse in SF. The fest will include their usual epic opening night party, a Men in Tights Comedy Show, the American Psycho 20th Anniversary Party, the annual Up the Oscars Roxie Benefit Bash, and a Big Lebowski Party with a live onstage shadow cast by Bawdy Caste. The lineup of films includes Come as You Are, a dark comedy that tells the story of three disabled young men who go on a road trip to a brothel that caters to folks with special needs. Come as You Are was directed by Bay Area filmmaker Richard Wong, and stars Gabourey Sidibe, Janeane Garofalo, and C.S. Lee. Also featured is Effigy - Poison and the City, which dramatizes the case of Gesche Gottfried, a notorious serial killer with a female investigator on his trail.
